These Terms of Use apply to the China Health Journey website, its articles, newsletters and related online services (the "Site"). By accessing or using the Site, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Site.
1. Who we are and what the Site does
China Health Journey provides independent educational information and practical, non-clinical guidance for people considering medical care in China. We explain topics such as hospitals and departments, preparing records, estimated costs, language support, travel planning and follow-up care.
We are not a hospital, clinic, insurer, travel agent or emergency service. Unless expressly agreed in writing, we do not act as the agent of a patient, hospital or clinician.
2. Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years old and legally able to enter into these Terms. If you use the Site for another person, you confirm that you are authorised to do so and will protect their privacy.
3. General information, not professional advice
Site content is general information only. It is not a diagnosis, treatment plan, medical opinion or medical, legal, immigration, insurance or financial advice. It does not create a doctor-patient relationship. Always seek advice from appropriately qualified professionals who can assess your individual circumstances.
Do not use this Site for an emergency. Contact local emergency services or a qualified clinician immediately if you may need urgent care.
4. No guarantee of access, price or outcome
We do not guarantee that a hospital will accept a case, that a treatment is available or suitable, or that any appointment, visa, timeline, estimate or clinical outcome will be achieved. Medical results vary. Cost ranges may exclude tests, complications, medicines, travel, accommodation and follow-up. Obtain a written, case-specific assessment and estimate from the relevant provider before making commitments.
5. Hospitals and other third parties
Hospitals, clinicians, interpreters, accommodation providers, transport providers, payment services, insurers and linked websites are independent third parties. They are responsible for their own services, qualifications, contracts, privacy practices, fees and conduct. A listing, link or mention is not an endorsement or guarantee.
Before proceeding, verify the provider, department, clinician, licence, scope of service, total fees, cancellation and refund terms, insurance cover and arrangements for complications and follow-up.
6. Medical travel decisions
You are responsible for deciding whether to travel and for obtaining professional advice about clinical suitability, fitness to fly, visas, entry rules, medicines, vaccinations, insurance and continuity of care. Do not change treatment, stop medicine or delay urgent care because of Site content.
7. Email subscriptions and communications
You may subscribe to receive updates. You can unsubscribe using the link in an email or by contacting us. Service communications may still be sent when necessary to answer a request or administer a submission. Email and messaging services are not guaranteed to be secure; do not send full medical records or highly sensitive information unless we provide an appropriate channel.
8. Patient stories and other submissions
To protect patient privacy, all photographs on this website use virtual images and do not depict real patients. If you submit text, photographs, video, documents or other material, you confirm that:
- you are at least 18 and the submission is genuine and accurate to the best of your knowledge;
- you own the material or have all permissions needed to share and publish it;
- you have obtained consent from every identifiable person and removed unnecessary personal or medical details;
- the submission does not infringe privacy, confidentiality, intellectual property or other rights; and
- you disclose any payment, free service, employment, family or commercial relationship relevant to the story.
You retain ownership. You grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to review, store, reproduce, edit for length and clarity, translate and publish the submitted material on the Site and our related channels. We will not materially change the meaning of a patient experience. We may decline, postpone or remove a submission. Before publication, you may withdraw permission by contacting us. After publication, we will consider reasonable removal requests, subject to legal, recordkeeping and editorial obligations.
9. Acceptable use
You must not use the Site to break the law; impersonate another person; submit false reviews or misleading health claims; harass, discriminate or threaten; expose confidential information; infringe rights; distribute malware; bypass security; interfere with the Site; harvest personal data; or use automated scraping that places an unreasonable load on the Site. You must not present Site content as personalised medical advice or as our endorsement.
10. Intellectual property
The Site design, branding and original content belong to us or our licensors and are protected by applicable law. You may view, print or share links for personal, non-commercial use with attribution. You may not republish, sell, systematically extract, remove notices from or create misleading derivatives of our content without written permission, except where law permits.
11. Accuracy, availability and changes
Medical practices, hospital services, prices, travel rules and laws change. We aim to correct material errors, but we do not promise that every item is complete, current or continuously available. We may change, suspend or withdraw any part of the Site and may update these Terms. The date above identifies the latest version.
12. Disclaimers
To the fullest extent permitted by law, the Site is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties about accuracy, availability, fitness for a particular purpose or non-infringement. Nothing in these Terms excludes an express commitment we have made in writing or a warranty that cannot legally be excluded.
13. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, loss of opportunity, travel costs, loss caused by reliance on general information, or the acts or omissions of independent providers. Nothing limits liability that cannot legally be limited, including liability for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or death or personal injury caused by negligence where applicable. Consumers retain all mandatory rights under the law of their habitual residence.
14. Suspension and termination
We may restrict access, reject submissions or take protective action when we reasonably believe these Terms, rights, security or law have been breached. Provisions that by their nature should survive termination will continue to apply.
15. Governing rules and disputes
These Terms are governed by the law applicable where the Site operator is established, without depriving consumers of mandatory protections available in their country of habitual residence. Before starting formal proceedings, please contact us so we can try to resolve the issue. Courts and regulators with mandatory jurisdiction remain available to you.
16. Contact and language versions
Questions or notices may be sent to info@chinamedicaljourney.com. Our operating locations are Hong Kong, Shenzhen and Shanghai. Translations are provided for accessibility. The English version is the reference version where legally permitted, but this does not reduce mandatory local consumer rights.
